Mini Metro’s geometry is almost all simple shapes and lines, and almost all procedurally generated.

This talk will cover why Mini Metro uses procedural geometry so extensively and how it generates and renders it all efficiently. I’ll go in to the details of the various rendering techniques we’ve used throughout the project, from throwing quads onto the screen during the original prototype, to our optimisations for mobile-class hardware, and our recent experiments with parametric geometry.

Also revealed will be Mini Metro’s darkest secret—you won’t believe this one weird trick it uses to fake anti-aliasing!
