This talk will dive deep into many aspects of tools (and tool development) in game development, including the process of being an indie developer and creating your own tools, in what ways custom tool development can benefit your game development experience, how to plan your tools accordingly, and the faux-pas involved in using tools to make games.
We’ll take a look at how tool development can save development time and money, and how tool development can even help fund your indie games. We’ll also take a look at how custom tool development helped saved countless hours of development time on Cuphead, and what could have happened if we decided to not create any custom tools for development.
Lastly we’ll take a look at my personal experience with tools, and how creating my own tools unknowingly funded my own indie career for over a year.
