Epic Games is very excited about the new opportunities for Unreal Engine 3 licensees and developers. Below are highlights on the latest technology developments.

On October 4, Epic’s founder and technical director, Tim Sweeney, revealed Unreal Engine 3 running in Flash onstage at Adobe MAX 2011.

Also on October 4 at the Apple Special Event keynote, Epic announced Infinity Blade 2, the sequel to the 2010 iOS game of the year.

The Unreal Insider blog describes how the Unreal Engine is pushing the envelope with new cutting-edge mobile features on the latest A5-equipped iOS devices, including iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

In addition, new iCloud service support and Facebook integration make the iOS gameplay experience even more compelling for players and more lucrative for developers.

Epic also recently confirmed that the Gears of War series is now a billion-dollar franchise. While those three games alone may already eclipse the combined economic impact of every other game engine that can be licensed today, if you were to also take into account the economic impact of the many games created by our licensees, the numbers would be astronomical.

Epic commends Unreal Engine developers for continually amazing us with their accomplishments.
